7 Things Every CEO Should Know

Second post of the day and I'm tactfully distancing myself from this morning's innuendos, donning my finest corporate attire, hiding my tattoos and generally looking sharp, to talk about that cornerstone of enterprise continuity - Information Security.

Anyway, sister agency (they're doin' it for themselves) Lighthouse PR have been working hard with client Lumension Security, who today launched a (very nice-looking) eBook on the topic, entitled 7 Things Every CEO Should Know. Okay, maybe you aren't a CEO, but there's some cold, harsh facts about the lengths cyber criminals will go to to get their hands on your servers, that were genuinely uncomfortable reading. These days there is little you can't find out about someone with a quick trawl of the Big G, which is before you even consider the business level. In that space, without due thought to securing your info, an entire operation can fall over like a drunken game of human jenga. According to Lumension, the issue lies in midsize businesses who don't believe hackers would care about their data, when in fact they're a perfect target if they've not made that crucial upfront spend to safeguard data. The eBook tells me cybercrime costs the US Government no less than $117.5 billion a year. The message is clear, don't be coy about info security, because the hackers certainly won't hold back in making the best use of your data if you let them at it. There, you've been warned. Can I take this suit off now?
