Google launches street view for mobile

We reported a little while back that we’d spotted a Google camera car in the UK, in preparation, we guessed for street level photo mapping that’s already in existence in the US. We also got pretty excited about the eventual advertising potential for street view on mobile.

Well, today Google announced on their mobile blog that they’ve now brought the street view functionality to mobile, along with walking directions. We reckon its not long before these street views become clickable and interactive, with massive potential for highly contextual advertising. Anyway the basic service is pretty cool stuff in its own right, check the video for a demo:
