Using celebrity to communicate and engage with your target market effectively is a long debated issue and a tactic used by marketing teams and agencies a like to win hearts and wallets, but world class sporting events cannot be be blamed for todays faux pas.

I know and understand the power of good celebrity endorsement and the creative potential to drive new communication routes to disengaged consumers, but surely there are a few more celebs that can polarise public opinion?

The same conversations ensue,"what we really want do is fix all our marketing problems with less spend than last year and win consumers in a shorter time frame than our competitors,because they have got more budget than us, we know you can do it because you're more creative."

After working with British Airways and Bass Brewers in sales and marketing roles, ten years of marketing experience followed on the way to becoming Group Marketing and Communications manager with Adidas uk ltd. Working as part of the marketing team that launched Predator to soccer players,one of the most well known Brand campaigns the sports trade has seen to date,as product manager to Senior Sport Manager, responsible for sponsorship, print, product R&D, Brand PR and communication strategy. In 1999 appointed by Umbro as Global Marketing Director,charged with developing an international brand strategy for, product, endorsees, advertising and Pr. Reviewing the global agency roster to appoint Joe Public relations, Ammunition,and Fallon. Post management of a global corporate identity review by Springetts and successfully repositioning the brand left to develop a Brand Consultancy. In 2001 formed Clay, an experiential marketing agency specialising in brand experiences and communications, working with Adidas, Burger King, Walls, Heinz, Warner, Disney and Kerry Foods. Clay won its first ISP Bronze award this year for Partnership Marketing and was one of six agencies shortlisted for Experiential Agency of the year 2007.
