Déjà-vu
The last few weeks, a couple of new campaigns have been criticized as being copies. McCann's Heinz ad for example, or Fallon's Sony Bravia Play-doh commercial. And AMV's newborn Guinnes ad is getting some critique it resembles Honda's Cog.
So, let's have a look at 2 Cannes Grand Prix winners from recent years, and their "source of inspiration". Just to make sure you're an expert when discussing this copycat-issue in a pub.
First: the Honda Cog ad. Won Cannes Gold in '03, but the W&K was clearly inspired by the Swiss artist duo Fischli & Weiss, who made a very similar setup back in '87. More...

Nowadays, it's difficult to be consistent in your communication when you're a multi brand company.

But since Axe (Lynx) and Slimfast (!) is also part of Unilever's product portfolio, it doesn't take long to get this kind of spoofs on the net:

Last Friday, I promised to give you a weekly 30 seconds of relax-and-just-watch-the-commercial. So here we go again. This week, I just picked the blockbuster that's ready for his opening weekend: the third spot in the Bravia series. Lazy me.
The first (Balls) was quite splendid (I found 3 people who didn't like it), the second one (Paint) was quite a bummer (it's a classic: the second one is always worse. Even if it's better). So let's see what hte advertising community thinks of this third one.
