Dragons' Den and Youdoodoll

First time a client has appeared on Dragons' Den. Quite weird situation last night to watch something on TV as if live, when actually filmed months ago. youdoodoll's branding, packaging, even the URL for company has changed since filming, so interesting trying to make sure all routes lead to new site, blog posts and the like to capitalise on being on BBC 2.

Also taking opportunity to use some of the techniques advocated in David Meerman Scott's book, 'New Rules of PR & Marketing', give it a read if you get chance. David also a member with posts on this network , David has some very interesting things to say..... More...

It’s official (almost): we’re starting to organize Global PR Blog Week 3.0.

The Hospital, Covent Garden

The Hospital, 24 Endell Street (www.thehospital.co.uk) makes great venue for more unusual launches and drinks receptions. Guests always impressed by well known faces who frequent the place as members, staff exceptional from the main reception to the top floor bars, always treated well at The Hospital.

Can be pricey though so pick and chose events to host there but certainly worth it. If you can't hold an event, also recommend membership and if you're youthful enough, there's a discounted annual membership fee, might be under 25 or perhaps under 30, can't quite recall as no longer applies to me!

Broadband Britain bill

25 Sep 2007 11:57 1 comment

'The bill looms for Broadband Britain', article by Richard Wray in The Guardian today makes for interesting reading. He questions when, and who will turn attention to broadband infrastructure to ensure UK can compete in increasingly broadband world.

Wray, like Ofcom is asking whether UK should dump neglected copper lines and if so, who will pay for it?

Can we compete with BT's Openreach in the equation, or is that one broken promise too far, as suggested by John Pluthero, head of Cable & Wireless Europe, Asisa and US who says, 'The telecoms strategic review wasall about relinquising powers in return for specific measureable undertakings from BT. Out of town business

19 Sep 2007 10:43 5 comments

Second meeting tomorrow in Brighton with client and their digital design agency, Juretic Media (www.juretic.com). Client (name to be revealed Oct/Nov) is one of the investments made by Deborah Meaden on Dragon's Den and will feature heavily in the soon to be aired new series.....

Thing that strikes me about doing business out of town is the cost saving that can be done, just because you're outside of the London metropolis....fully functioning ecommerce site with community possibilities, all for £2.5k, marvellous value. Let's hope the site does what we want and if it does, highly recommend consideration be given to out of towners when looking for agencies, designers, copy writers, I could go on but won't, for now anyway! Social Media News Releases

Diminishing return on results? Quite probably, if we continue to use the same tactics as always in PR and news releases. 'Social media news releases', certainly worth a try and templates helpfully provided by SHIFT Communications and PRSquared........go on, you know you want to!
